There is more to an essential oil than a pleasant scent. Its botanical source, natural composition and the care behind its selection all contribute to what you experience.

At Pax Flora, our aromatherapy heritage began in Malaysia in 2001. We bring that knowledge into both our pure single note essential oils and our aromatic blends, offering different ways to enjoy botanicals in everyday life.

What is a single note essential oil?

A single note essential oil comes from one botanical source, such as Lavender, Geranium or Rosemary. It contains the plant’s naturally occurring aromatic constituents, extracted from parts such as flowers, leaves, bark, roots or peel.

“Single note” does not mean a simple, one-dimensional fragrance. One essential oil can contain many aromatic constituents, giving it layers of character.

Lavender, for example, has a sweet floral scent with herbaceous notes and a softly woody undertone. Geranium offers a rosy aroma with green freshness. Each botanical has its own distinctive personality.

Why choose single notes?

Single notes let you become familiar with an individual botanical and discover the scents you enjoy.

Experience the botanical’s own character. You can appreciate the nuances of one plant without other essential oils changing the overall composition.

Choose a scent for your surroundings. Floral notes can accompany a quiet evening, citrus brings a bright aromatic impression, and herbal or woody notes offer freshness or depth. The right choice depends on the atmosphere you enjoy.

Explore at your own pace. Begin with one favourite, then gradually discover other botanicals. With appropriate guidance, single notes can also become the building blocks for your own aromatic combinations.

Their value lies in both their individuality and their versatility: one botanical, with many ways to become part of your day.

What does “100% pure” mean at Pax Flora?

Our single note essential oils are 100% pure and undiluted. Each contains the named botanical essential oil, without added carrier oils or synthetic fragrance.

This means you receive the essential oil itself, with its characteristic aromatic composition, rather than a diluted preparation or a recreated scent.

We import our essential oils directly from growers and distillers and use GC–MS analysis as part of our batch quality control. This analytical method examines an oil’s aromatic constituents and helps assess whether its composition is consistent with the expected botanical profile.

Testing works alongside sourcing knowledge and professional assessment. It is one part of understanding an oil’s identity and quality.

Our essential oils are packed in Malaysia at a GMP-certified facility, bringing controlled handling and packing practices to the finished product.

For you, this means a clearly identified botanical ingredient, its undiluted aromatic character, and care that extends from sourcing to packing.

Why do oils on the market differ?

Products sold for scent can have very different compositions.

Some are fragrance oils, formulated with synthetic aroma ingredients, natural ingredients, or a combination of both. They may resemble lavender or sandalwood without being the essential oil of that plant.

Others are diluted essential oils, mixed with a carrier oil for a particular purpose, such as a ready-to-use body oil. Properly labelled dilution is a useful formulation choice; it should simply be clear what the bottle contains.

Adulteration is different. It involves undisclosed additions or substitutions in a product represented as genuine essential oil. These may include cheaper essential oils, vegetable oils or synthetic aromatic compounds.

A familiar smell alone cannot establish purity. Knowing the botanical identity, ingredients, sourcing and quality-control approach gives you a more useful basis for choosing.

Pure essential oils also remain concentrated ingredients. Purity does not make them suitable for every person or every method of use; always follow the product’s directions and precautions.

What does an aromatic blend offer?

An aromatic blend brings several essential oils together in carefully chosen proportions.

One oil may introduce brightness, another soften the composition, and another add a deeper, lingering note. The balance between them shapes the finished scent.

For someone who wants a composed fragrance without choosing and combining individual oils, a blend offers a convenient starting point.

Its benefits include:

• A more layered scent, bringing together complementary botanical characters.
• A composition created for a particular atmosphere, whether fresh, floral, woody or warm.
• Convenience, with the proportions already selected for the intended aromatic experience.

Where our expertise comes in

At Pax Flora, blending draws on the knowledge of our certified aromatherapists and more than two decades of aromatherapy experience.

Understanding each oil’s scent, composition and use considerations helps us choose botanicals that work well together. We consider how prominent each ingredient should be and how the fragrance develops as a whole.

A blend earns its place through thoughtful selection and balance. Its appeal comes from what the botanicals create together.

Whether you prefer the distinct character of a single note or the layers of an expertly composed blend, our approach begins in the same place: botanical ingredients, informed selection and care in every bottle.
